Latest update!

I'm sorry I am back here after quite a long time. Let's begin........International Informatics Olympiad was conducted on 27th August 2009. I found the paper easy, and expect to get a nice rank. Results will be published Here by the 25th of this month. Next was the World Oral Calculator Competition organised by Magical Methods Foundation. The results are already out, and unfortunately I could not qualify. Next was the National Cyber Olympiad. It was conducted on two dates September10 and October5. Our school conducted on the olympiad on the latter date. The question paper on September10 was really very very easy, while that on October5 was too tough. Unfortunately again, I couldn't qualify. I missed out by six ranks. I was quite a shock for me, 1st last year and 506th this year. Next was Unified Cyber Olympiad, results of which are also declared. Next on the agenda was the DPS Science and Maths Talent Exam for DPS students only. It was a nice paper, though a bit tough......... Next was 12th NSO that was conducted yesterday, i.e. November19. It was a tough paper. The answer key is already put up here . BTW, I've also won the National Child Award for Exceptional Achievements from the Govt. of India and also the NSO E-Quiz for class X, being a class IX student. These are the only good things that came my way this year, apart from NTSE scholarship. I am eagerly awaiting IIO results. God knows what's going to happen! BTW, best of luck to all those who took the olympiad, and for all those who didn't, BOL for your future!

NTSE interview and lot's more!

It has been a long time since I've been on this blog. So, let's recount some of the activities that happened in the past, and some which are soon to take place. Let's begin with the NTS interviews. I took my NTSE interview on 3rd Aug. in Delhi. I had four judges, who asked me questions in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, History and Geography. Some of the questions included-
Physics:

1. Contributions of Albert Einstein in Physics
2. Explanation of Einstein's law
3. Contributions of Steven Hawking
4. The fact that Steven Hawking is physically challenged, and yet he has proved himself as an outstanding astronomer

Chemistry:

1. Tell about structure of atoms-protons, neutrons and electrons with their charges
2. A question on nuclear stability was asked: if neutrons do not have any charge on them, and how are they bound to the nucleus

Biology:

1. Classify dinosaur (they expected complete classification including kingdom, species, phylum etc.)
2. Classify yourself
3. Four characteristics of mammals

Geography:

1. Define igneus, sedimentary and metamorphic rocks
2. Of what rocks are Himalayas made up of? How have they been made?
3. What rocks have relation to biology?

History:
1. Name any four non-Indians who played a notable role in the national movement?
2. What is Home Rule League?
3. What were its objectives? Who started it in America and then who started it in India?

I could answer 85% of the questions correctly. The results of the interview are expected to be released in Mid-Septembers. For more interview experiences, you may log on to
EasyNTSE Blog

Next on the list is the 1st World Oral Calculation Competition. It is being organised by Magical Methods Foundation, Delhi on 25th August. It's aim is to test oral calculations of children. Log on to
Magical Methods for more details. Next is International Informatics Olympiad on August27. I'll now see you guys in my next post, which will be published quite soon!

NTS level II results!

The results of the 2nd level of the National Talent Search Examination conducted by NCERT on 10th May will be declared in the next week. This is as per the info sought from NCERT. Further, the news of a student from an orphenage in Delhi clearing the NTS level II is just a rumer. The truth is that the results are still not out. Further, today's newspaper mentions another interested thing about this exam. The Punjab Govt., while conducting the STSE in November, gave wrong answer to many questions. Giving an example, according to them Dengue is caused by a bacteria, instead of a virus, whereas virus is the correct answer. Further, the Lok sabha is headed by speaker, while Raj Sabha by the Chairman is correct. But, according to Punjab Govt., it's the other way round! Any ways, let's hope for the best and enjoy the NTS experience!!! Best of luck to all the participants.

Further, all those who took the exam are requested to post their experience as a comment to this post. Seeing the cut-off for the last two years, the estimated cut-off for this year is around 71%, i.e. should be between 135-145. A best of luck to all NTS students once again! And do share the news of your selection, if you are selected, as a comment to this post. I'm looking forward to hearing from you about your comments of NTS. Well, if you ask me about my experience, it was average in the first round, but it was quite nice in the second one. I expect above 90, and around 70 in SAT, marks totalling to around 160-165. But, then, let's see what happens. We can't be that sure. We'll have to wait for some more days. And, BTW, how are your vacations going on? Having a lot of fun!!!
